Medical Examination by a Vascular Surgeon

Whenever your general practitioner or a specialist establishes a need for an examination by a vascular surgeon, you can visit the Surgical centre, present the doctor’s note and be examined at our Vascular Surgery Clinic. At the examination, the vascular surgeon will assess the objective clinical situation and suggest the most suitable type of treatment. Additional diagnostic tests may be needed, most often an ultrasound scan of the deep and superficial veins.

The doctor will ask you about your general medical condition, past surgeries, regular medication and allergies, and provide you with all the necessary information on the treatment and possible complications. If you agree on a surgical intervention, which is usually performed under general or regional anaesthesia, you will set an approximate date for the surgery and other laboratory tests necessary before you can undergo an examination at the anaesthesiology clinic. You will also be given a date for an appointment at the Anaesthesiology Clinic. There, your anaesthesiologist will fill you in on anaesthesia and tell you what additional examinations may be needed before the surgery.
